Soares Family
Mikala here! Rebekah is a coworker of mine, so when she came by my desk asking to have family photos done, I was pumped! First, we love fun families. Second, I love seeing my coworkers in real life, for non-work related occurrences!

As soon as the kids got out of the car, we knew this would be a good one. :) Bella & Michael have such fun personalities, and they really shined through their photos! They were such encouragers to mom and dad, and reminded dad to smile for real at the beginning when he was still warming up to the camera. ;) We love what we got here for the Soares family, and Rebekah is already planning her canvases!
Welcome Baby Talon!
Baby Talon, welcome to the world! We met you in your momma's tummy a few weeks before you decided to join us, and we were so excited to finally see you!

Talon started off the session a little fussy (turned out he just wanted to eat 4 times as much as he normally does!), but once he settled down, we were really able to get some gems for his mom, Christine! Especially that Easter bunny one.
O. M. G. SO CUTE!
Christine, we're pretty excited about how these turned out, and we can't wait to see him grow!
Christine's Maternity Session
Christine lost her father in late 2017, so when she decided to do her maternity photos, Christine had the wonderful idea to honor and dedicate the photos to her later father. Seeing as he had been the pilot of Apache helicopters during his time in the military, what better way to honor him than to take photos with the very choppers that he flew! We knew that this was a very special and powerful session, and were all in when she pitched us the idea. I am glad that we were allowed on base, because we LOVE her session and the meaning behind the setting!

Sweetest Samara
Sweet Samara made her grand entrance on February 21, almost exactly two weeks before her due date! Rumor has it, Samantha even drove herself to the hospital since Tito was at work- beast mode! We were so thrilled to be able to meet this teeny one on her 6th day, and are in love with her and the memories of her that we were able to capture for their family!

This little beauty has brought nothing but pure joy into the Salinas family, where Tito and Samantha have handled the adjustment to a family of four like true champs. Samara, we are excited to watch you grow and can't wait to see what God has in store for you!
Much love ♥

PS- Lord, wherever you got those lashes from, send them our way when it's our turn! Amen. :)
Happy Birthday, Belle!
It's Belle's first birthday, and we want to sing a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this cutie!
It's Belle's first birthday, and we want to sing a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this cutie! We were hoping to be able to do some cute outdoorsy photos for her, but the crazy Houston weather kept us inside... Regardless of the circumstances, we still were able to get some pretty darn cute photos of little Belle! She was timid at first, but definitely warmed up to the camera once the balloons came into the picture. ;)
Belle, we hope you have a wonderful time at your party tomorrow, and can't wait to watch you continue to grow! Happy birthday!!

Emmy's 7 Month Update
It's been so fun to watch little Emmy and her bubbly personality grow! We had the pleasure to take some 7 month progress pictures of her, and in the words of Josh, "She is such a DOLL!" And once you see her pictures, I don't think there will be any disputing that!

Preparing for Baby Samara
Our dear friends, Samantha and Tito, are expecting baby Samara in March, and it was our honor to be part of this step of their lives! Sam looked so beautiful, and the boys were too precious in their matching outfits. ;) ALSO, Josh gained IV's favor when he stumbled upon a trick to make him laugh! (You can see IV just dying laughing in some of the pictures!)

We have absolutely loved being able to watch and photograph this growing family! Samara, you are truly so loved already, and I can guarantee, you are being born into such a wonderful family! We can't wait to meet you soon!

Sunny SoCal Snapshots
Josh and I had such a great time visiting the LA area! Josh had the opportunity to attend NAMM, and in his words, he was "SO PUMPED" to see all of the products and have the chance to meet leaders in the industry. After the convention, my sweet friends came to meet us and keep me company while Josh went to day two, and we were classic tourists- spending our vacation finding the photo ops and good food, and we wouldn't have it any other way! LA, we'll be back- there's still so much more to see!

As beautiful as California is, we are definitely glad to be back in hometown HOUSTON!
(PS- these are just snapshots from our trip, so none of these photos have been edited! They came straight from the camera. ;) Also! Some contributions from Megan! )
Enjoy!
Mikala
DAY 1- THE NAMM SHOW
While browsing around the booths, we met the innovators of WTC, Welch Tuning Systems, Inc., who we hope to see doing big things in the future! They had such a cool new way to tune drums, which, I'm pretty sure Josh would be the spokesperson for, if they'd let him! After trying their system once, Josh was ready to buy it. BUT, they only had their prototype! We will definitely be looking out for their products! Josh also had the privilege of meeting Scott Johnson, who is a big deal in the percussion world! (Not pictured, he also was able to meet DW Drums' VP, John Good!)
DAY 2- VENICE BEACH
Once Megan and Jacobi arrived, I was ready to take on the town! We started in Venice Beach, and found this ADORABLE love wall on Abbot Kinne! I mean, like, it's freaking cute. We obviously had to take too many pictures. Who would we be if we didn't?
Oh, and Happy Australia Day, apparently?
We finally made it to the beach, and let's be real- what's better than a sunny day and a California beach? Meg just couldn't handle her excitement! LOL
DAY 3- HOLLYWOOD & DTLA
On our way to brunch at Commissary at the Line Hotel (BEAUTIFUL, btw. If you go, get the chorizoquiles!), we saw this fun wall by Chinese Laundry! And duh, we pulled over.
After brunch (we only took iPhone photos, sorry! But seriously, go to Commissary), we did a double decker bus tour! We were chauffeured around and had the wind in our hair. So worth the $25 to not have to drive ourselves, guys!! And we saw the Hollywood sign, which was probably the only thing on Josh's list!
After our tour, we headed over to the famous, Melrose St.! 1. It's Melrose St, so, duh. 2. We had to check Alfred Tea off our list and get the pink drink!
<That's us being followed by "paparazzi". And this is us taking pictures by this cute yellow gate! Which, so happens, to be the future location of Bumble! > LOL
We made it to Alfred and I got my pink drink (Basically a fancy strawberry milk, FYI.) But it was so cute! Also, everyone in the tea shop was basically staring and laughing at us becaue poor Josh was on the floor trying to get that picture of me and Jacobi. LOL I must say, I love how much LA loves pink. <3
After dinner at Taste on Melrose (also SO CUTE. We had the best waiter too, who knew exactly what Megan wanted when she pulled out a phone charger at the table. haha), we had to hit our last "must see" for the day, Urban Light. I'm so glad we waited until the lamp posts were lit to visit! Urban Light is an art installation outside of LACMA, and like most photo op locations, it was filled with couples taking engagement photos, girls in quinceanera dresses, families with their kids, and rando tourists, like ourselves!
Note to visitors, booties don't have much grip to allow you to swing from the lamp post like you may want to try! Just helping a sister out. ;)
Mika & James' Wedding
Mika (Meek-a, I've got your back, girl- I understand the struggle lol) and James were just the absolute sweetest couple! They had their very intimate ceremony and reception on December 30, right before the new year, and boy, we couldn't think of a better way to start the new year than married to your best friend! The place was all smiles, and a few tears as sweet Mika and James said their "I do"'s, and tied blue ribbon around each others' fingers to signify their promise to love and cherish each other through the good and the bad, through sickness and in health, which, I am positive meant more to this couple than we realized at the time.
Mika (Meek-a, I've got your back, girl- I understand the struggle lol) and James were just the absolute sweetest couple! The place was all smiles, and a few tears as sweet Mika and James said their "I do"'s, and tied blue ribbon around each others' fingers to signify their promise to love and cherish each other through the good and the bad, through sickness and in health. I am positive this meant more to this couple than we realized at the time. Mika surprised us after the ceremony by taking off her beautiful wig to reveal that she, herself, was going through chemotherapy treatments. And if you spot "Lambie" in the photos instead of a bouquet, just smile for Mika- we learned that he was a gift from James while she was in the hospital, and their "child" had to be part of this incredibly special day for the two of them. :) Based on the joy and peace that radiated from their faces all morning, we never would imagined what this strong couple has already faced together, and pray for a full recovery for beautiful Mika, and an abundantly blessed marriage for her and James. May you both always keep the hope, faith, and joy that we experienced from you on your wedding day, and may you continue to grow together for many years to come!
Much love,
Mikala & Josh
Christmas Mini Sessions!
This was our first year of mini sessions, and it is safe to say, we had a blast! We were able to spend time with so many wonderful families, and had so much fun getting to know our new clients and take more lovely photos of our previous clients. Needless to say, this year's minis were a huge success, and I can't wait to start planning for more minis in the future!

Krysti & Josh
Let's begin by saying a big congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Collins on their beautiful nuptials!
Krysti and I (Mikala) have known one another since we were literally toddlers, and many of my childhood memories include the two of us running up and down Brantley Street, playing soap opera Barbies in the backyard, WWF "wrestling" in the front with the brothers, and spending every day before and after school at her house. When she reached out in November asking if we would be the photographers for her wedding, I was ecstatic! Krysti was my first real best friend, so it was such an honor for us to be able to document such a huge moment in her life!

She told me that it would be a simple, informal, backyard wedding at her parents' house in La Vernia, TX (which was convenient since we would be in San Antonio for Thanksgiving that weekend anyway), but when we arrived, the scene was so much more than she had described! Everything was beautiful, from the white tent with string lights, to the ceremony arbor, the incredible cake, and, of course, the stunning bride and groom!
Krysti and Josh, it is obvious how much you love one another, and thank you for allowing us to be part of your big day! We pray many blessed years ahead for you and your growing family!
Much love,
Mikala & Josh
Diedra & Deoh'Andre
So many congratulations to Diedra & Deoh'Andre on their recent engagement! This sweet couple was such fun to work with, and Diedra's lively spirit definitely brightened our day. :)
So many congratulations to Diedra & Deoh'Andre on their recent engagement! This sweet couple was such fun to work with, and Diedra's lively spirit definitely brightened our day. :) Diedra decided that she wants a rustic theme for their September 2018 wedding, so the gardens and greenery of Hermann Park helped to fulfill the nature filled vision that she had for their portraits. Diedra & Deoh'Andre, you guys look spectacular, and we can't wait until next September! Many blessings to you both!

Angela & Mike
Having been victims of the floodwaters of Hurricane Harvey in August, Angela and Mike made the decision to have an intimate family wedding, in order to focus their attention on rebuilding their damaged home. On November 4, 2017, their plans came to fruition, and they had such a beautiful ceremony at Helen's Gardens in League City!

On November 4, 2017, their plans came to fruition, and they had such a beautiful ceremony at Helen's Gardens in League City! This fun couple truly made it a day that reflected their fun and light personalities, and Mike kept everybody rolling the whole afternoon with his quick wit. Before the wedding, Mike described the day as being "the happiest day of his life", and based on the ear to ear smiles on both of their faces, I don't doubt for a minute that his words were true. :)
Although the rain cut us a little short, their wedding day was absolutely gorgeous, and their love for one another was so evident and undeniable.
Angela & Mike, we hope that you had such a wonderful first Thanksgiving as husband and wife, and many, many more blessed holidays to come!

Nelly & Rene
Nelly & Rene were the perfect couple to work with! The love that they had for each other radiated from their smiles, Rene knew just how to make Nelly laugh, and they looked just incredible, which made for simply stunning photos!
Hi friends, Mikala here! I'd like to welcome you to my very first solo session! :D As most of you know, Josh is our primary photographer, so when Nelly reached out about having photos done after their small civil ceremony on a day that Josh was out of town, I must say- my nerves were really working! I am ECSTATIC that I said yes, because Nelly & Rene were the perfect couple to work with! The love that they had for each other radiated from their smiles, Rene knew just how to make Nelly laugh, and they looked just incredible, which made for simply stunning photos! I promise, I asked them at least five times if they had modeled before, because they just looked so natural in front of the camera!
Nelly & Rene, I'm so glad that you guys decided to skip the Astros celebration parade and celebrate your love for one another instead!! May you continue to love each other deeply, make each other laugh, and have a beautiful life together!
Much love,
Mikala
Azzams in the Pumpkin Patch!
We had such a fun time at the pumpkin patch with Brittany, Mitch, and their two cuties, Cooper & Brielle at their mini session! Cooper was SO GOOD at saying "Cheese!" We have to give him major kudos there, for sure. ;)

The Ellisons' Little Pumpkin!
Let me first say, we have absolutely loved being able to see little Emmy grow! (even if it only has been 3 months! haha) This little pumpkin was simply adorable in her strawberry costume, and in the words of Josh, "What. A. Doll!" You know you can't deny it!

Micale, sorry that Emmy just refused to smile for us, but that makes her no less precious! I mean look at that little sleeping angel! We can't wait to see this precious little face again soon!
Happy three months, little Emmy! Mikala & Josh love you! :D
Check out their mini session at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Pearland, TX!
